Well I’ve just watched a boring England game against Azerbaijan. Just as I predicted to friends and work colleges it finished 2-0 to England, no way would England thrash them like Poland did. That’s not to say Poland are better than England, they’re not, England are just a boring team.
David Beckham and Steven Gerrard got the goals. Striker Michael Owen had a very bad game. Fellow forward Wayne Rooney did a little better but couldn’t score.

Steven Gerrard prepares for his role in The Matrix 4
On his day Rooney is brilliant and an asset to whatever team he is playing for. Off the pitch he appears to be an extremely unpleasant young man. While at Everton he appeared as the shy, polite young player. Since he moved to Man Utd he has become obnoxious, rude and too big for his boots – an overpaid chav. Still he’s a great player, even though he is a tosser.
On the topic of football (kinda), it’s the return of ‘Trash TV’ tomorrow Footballers’ Wives on ITV1 at 9pm. The acting is bad, very bad, in the first two series it was a case of “being so bad it’s good” series 3 was “so bad it’s crap”. I’ll probably give the first episode a god. Dunno why, episodes are poor, you don’t see any football and all the women in the latest series are all slappers.

Finally, I got my last birthday present yesterday albeit over two weeks late. A signed & framed Leeds United shirt (it was being framed, hence the delay). Moving furniture about a bit in my room found it a great home.

I’ve also been able to make space for some new shelves from Argos which will hold the majority of my large DVD collection.

The woodlice invasion seems to have died down since yesterday. However I strongly believe that it is more than just a coincidence that this is following yesterday’s blog entry.
I think this proves the woodlice almost certainly have internet access via some very small laptop and are accessing Sparkster.net. They must have taken the decision to all hide in a hole away out of sight, kind of like what Saddam Hussein did.
Of course the woodlice may have even sent a spy woodlose into the room where I write these blogs, reporting back to the head woodlouse later that day… he could be watching me type now… I’d better spray some RAID Insect Repellent about…
I think I should move onto a different topic as it is unclear who or what is reading this…

Could the woodlice all be hiding, planning an invasion?
Or are they all just dead?
As I type I keep hearing shouts from outside and chants of “Come on City! Come on City”. I guessed that Bath City must be playing this afternoon. After doing a little research it appears they are playing the University team Team Bath (they appeared in The FA Cup a few years back on Sky).
So ‘The Bath Derby’ in The Southern Premier Division. Wow. Really surprised this isn’t being beamed to TV stations all over the world :o) :o)

Lastly, I’m sure you have heard that annoying song McFly did for Comic Relief, It’s All About You. There was a parody of it on the radio which I made available for download. Well I’ve written my own equally terrible parody. If anyone has the instrumental of the original and the vocal talents to record my parody let me know!
It's all about Leeds United, their manager Kevin Blackwell, his strange team formations, loan signings and the way he persistently plays David Healy, our great striker in midfield.
Another loanee,
Another loanee Blackie,
Another loanee,
Another loanee,
Yesterday you went out scouting for someone new,
Cos were a whole new squad, we need someone new,
Maybe you should sign a defender or a left winger,
But you got another forward, we need someone new,
And I will ask you time and time again,
Get a left winger
We need to play Healy up front,
Why don't you want to,
So write the team sheet down and put 4 - 4 - 2,
Play Helay up front, not someone new,
And I will ask you time and time again,
Get a left winger
We need to play Healy up front,
Go 4-4-2
Don't play Wright again either, use Danny Pugh,
Wright is so bloody slow, makes us frown and not smile,
He couldn't run a country mile
Please go 4-4-2
Go 4-4-2
Go 4-4-2
Go 4-4-2
etc....
Just to remind you all to check out Hobart’s House, Dan’s made another blog so have a read.

I don’t know why but in the last two weeks there has been a sudden plague of woodlice in my local area. There are loads of the things; I’ve just swept about five from the kitchen floor. They’re not just in my house, as I walk up the street I see them on the pavement.
They’re not a major problem, it’s not as if they carry diseases (like cockroaches) or are scary (like spiders), they don’t even go in the food. They just seem to wander around the floor looking for places to hide.

Luckily the woodlice aren't this big. If they ever grow to this size, God help us all.
I don’t know the reason for the sudden increase in woodlice population. Maybe they are all colligating around my house for some big woodlice rock festival – Woodstock maybe? Or could they all be planning a woodlice invasion!!??
I think the best thing to do is take a solo woodlouse hostage in a matchbox. Deny it food or water until it talks (into a tiny, tiny microphone) about what it’s species have planned. I will then send the confidential information to George W. Bush and Tony Blair who can organise a war on terror stopping the woodlice once and for all.

So the clocks are going FORWARD this morning in yet another annoyance of life. I’m unclear as to why we still put the clocks backwards and forwards nowadays.
Some people say they put the clocks back to stop school children getting mowed down on the roads coming back from school (but with darker mornings wouldn’t they become Road Kill on the way in to school?).
Other people say it goes back to the days of agriculture where everyone lived on farms, before the days of Tesco Direct, making their own bread, cheese and growing their own pasta trees.
If this daylight saving idea was originally intended for farmers, surely it makes sense that as there are less farmers now to scrap it. I am aware that farms are still in existence, but nowadays the majority of the population work with Windows and not Windmills.

Anyway, that’s enough of that, things won’t change, unless the government want them to, in which case the public won’t be consulted anyway.

I’ll go to bed now, get up late (hence the hour difference) and go around the house putting clocks, mobile phones, microwave ovens and various other gadgets an hour forward. Or I may as well just not bother, come November the time will be accurate again.

Just another small blog about the England game, great support from the Northern Ireland fans. I’m sure they were desperate just for Northern Ireland to score.
As a Leeds fan it would have also been nice to have seen David Healy get one too, so for all you Leeds and Northern Ireland fans, here is a simulation of Healy scoring against England – enjoy!

Immediately into the second half England got things going, scoring in 61 seconds. The game ended 4-0, a comfortable win, Northern Ireland getting caned.
It could easily have been more for England, Frank Lampard missed a sitter, slamming it onto the post and over the goal. Sparkster.net caught Lampard the Cockney for an exclusive interview to discuss his performance.
|
Our Interviewer: “So Frank, England had a good game, you had a good game. You did however miss a sitter, what do you have to say about that?”
Lampard: "You can call me Frankie me old mucka! It's like this, I got da ball from Tezza and shot. It all went Pete Tong and flew up the apples and pears of Old Twaffod. 'old on a minute mate, my dog and bone is ringing innit!"
Our Interview: “Thank you Frank, send our love to Pat Butcher,” |

Come on England, sort it out! It’s half time during the England – Northern Ireland match. Not a great game so far, 0-0, disappointing. England had their chances but they should have converted them.
Northern Ireland have defended very well, hence the score line. Leeds United’s David Healy is playing for the Irish. I know this is wrong as I am English, but as a Leeds fan, every time he gets the ball I want him to score a blinder – as long as England win the game!

England should watch out for David Healy - he's great!
This really is a must win game for England should they wish to gain automatic qualification to the World Cup next year. If it finishes 0-0 (or worse!), it certainly will be 2 points dropped.
Except another blog update at full time.

I got my new 2005-2007 England Football Shirt yesterday. Pretty nice design, similar to the one used in Euro ’96, however I do prefer the last one. If anything this new one is too plain and the material doesn’t seem as good, although manufacturers Umbro will argue that it is “new technology for sportswear” or some bollocks like that.
England are of course playing Northern Ireland tomorrow in a World Cup 2006 qualifier. They should win this easily, even though the mighty David Healy is playing for N. Ireland. Still, you never can tell with England, they (usually) do great against the tough teams and play crap against the minnows. No disrespect to N. Ireland just basing this upon games won-lost-drawn.

Moving on from football, I went shopping in Sainsbury’s yesterday evening an hour or so before closing. The shop is closed today as it is Good Friday, as this was the case everyone seemed to have lost the plot. They were buying trolley loads of… well rubbish!
I think that a common and highly bizarre fear in this country is that when a Bank Holiday is coming up there is a mass panic and people stock pile just in case they need that extra something on the day the supermarkets are closed!
Here’s a typical scenario you could expect to see in a supermarket the day before a Bank Holiday weekend…
Husband: “Shall we buy this pack of Beef suet?”
Wife: “What’s Beef suet?”
Husband: “Dunno love, but remember the shops are closed tomorrow, if we need it how in the hell would we buy it!!??”
Wife: “Oh my God George, you’re right! Quick buy packet of that crystallised ginger while your at it, actually make it 5 packs! You never know who might drop in tomorrow”
Madness!

Manchester United are such a bitter and bad losers. They are now moaning about being knocked out of The Champions League and are asking for the whole format of the competition to be changed to suite big clubs like themselves.
For those not in the know, Manchester United crashed out of the competition two weeks ago against Italian giants AC Milan (who were by far the better team). Chief exec of the club David Gill is now asking that so called “big clubs” should not be drawn together in the second round therefore allowing them both to progress further (full article here).
Gill used excuses such as less ‘glamour for the competition’ as well as ‘being bad for sponsors and television ratings’.

What bitter losers! The competition is perfectly fine as it is, if a club manages to get past the group stages and make it into the randomly drawn knock out round they all deserve to play each other however early or late in the competition. How dare they say it should be seeded!
I would like to add that Manchester United also fell out in the second round of The Champions League last year to Porto who back then were a small club!
Why don’t they just rig The FA Cup while they’re at it? Only allow Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool to be drawn in the quarter finals? PFT!!!
This is just one of a long series of moans from the club, remember the farce they made when they were drawn against Real Madrid in the quarter finals in 2003 – they accused UEFA of fixing the draw!
All this crap comes after Man Utd reveal their profits have halved leading to suggestion they’ll be taken over by an American who will almost certainly spell bad news for the club and that Alex Ferguson is by no means invulnerable and “sackable”.
Lastly, The Peter Kay Amarillo video has been removed and I’m sorry but it will NOT be re-uploaded. If you really want it buy the single, get it to No.1 again and help out Comic Relief.

Something I will upload that I found very funny is this Radio 1 parody of the song performed by Welshman Aled Jones from The Chris Moyles Show. He sings Show Me The Way To Aberystwyth (Aberystwyth besing a place in Wales). It’s very funny!

Yesterday I bought a very special DVD – Round the Twist Series 1. Round the Twist was an excellent children’s television series shown in 1989/90, when I was about eight. It was a massive hit, very popular.
The program is a comedy about an Australian family who move to a haunted lighthouse and have many bizarre and hilarious encounters.

The first and best Twist family
Watching the first four episodes yesterday brought back many great memories and what’s great is they’re just as funny and entertaining as fifteen years ago!
Fifteen years is indeed a long time ago (apologies for everyone over 40 who doesn’t think so!), the characters must have fully grown up. Tom Twist (the dad) must be coming up to 60, the teenagers Pete & Linda in their 30’s and Bronsdon a little older than me.
You can find out what has happened to most of them on this interesting website. You can also read about Series 2, 3 and 4. I only remember Series 2, it featured completely different actors and was not as good – avoid, there is only one true great series.
The DVD is available in stores now, it’s a double disc, around £10, it’s great and if you were a fan as a child an essential purchase!

Now all the BBC need to do is release Maid Marian and Her Merry Men, another comedy classic, I’ve e-mailed the BBC Marketing Department. I won’t hold my breath on an exciting response.
To bring back those memories here’s the excellent theme tune.

Beautiful weather today, it’s only March and was like a summers day. A lot of people would enjoy the weather by sitting in their gardens, going to the country or the parks. I on the other hand was asked to go with a couple of friends to the pub to watch the Ireland – Wales game in the egg chasing 6 Nations.
I don’t like rugby very much but I did think it was a good game. Disappointed by the result, I wanted Ireland to win. Nothing against Wales, but I like the Irish International football team, so why not the rugby one?
I didn’t stay for the England – Scotland match, I’d rather not watch the two worse sides in the competition – even though England is my home nation (sorry, I don’t like rugby much!)

6 Nations of Egg Chasing is nearly over
Next weekend is the start of the football internationals. England play Northern Ireland on Saturday and Azerbaijan on Wednesday in World Cup Qualifiers. Both should be easy games for England (how arrogant!) although they should watch out for Northern Ireland & Leeds United super striker David Healy! :o)

I went to see Robots at the cinema yesterday. I had been looking forward to this for months since seeing the trailer back in the autumn. While the film wasn’t bad I wasn’t impressed. It was certainly not as good as the other computer animated features I saw last year – Shrek 2, The Incredibles & Shark Tale.
The film follows a robot who wants to be an inventor. He goes to Robot City in search of his hero. His hero is gone and has been replaced by a big bad robot determined to bring havoc to the industrial world.
The film had its funny moments, but was too much of a kids film for my liking. Unlike the films mentioned above, I will not be buying this on DVD when released.

Moving on, I’ve recently learnt about a great piece of software known as Coolstreaming which will LEGALLY allow you to watch English football matches over the internet for free!
The streams are broadcast from all over the world (probably everywhere but the UK!). These can be found on the Coolstreaming application and run on a Streaming Media Player. Windows Media Player will do, but it is recommended to use VLC (also free).
Coolstreaming can be downloaded here. VLC here.
To run this properly you will need at least a 1mbps connection, so if you have a crappy 56k dial up or even 512 broadband – stop!
Its very basic to set up, here’s a quick guide
1) Download and install Coolstreaming and VLC Media Player.
2) Start Coolstreaming, click on the properties icon.
3) In the box next to “application to open asf stream” enter C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe.
4) In the box next to “application to open asf stream” enter the location of Real Player (if installed) if not C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe.
5) Now double click a channel form the list, I recommend ‘Test sport’ (which is Star Sport) or Guangdong Sports.
6) It make take a few minutes to load and the quality will be crap. Wait 10-20 minutes and you’ll have a very good quality stream.
A few notes, if you are behind a router you will probably need to enable DMZ as the streams will be blocked by the routers firewall. If you are running a software firewall you may also need to open the ports and/or give permission to both Coolstreaming and VLC to access the internet.
As this uses up so much bandwidth you should not run any Peer to Peer programs at the same time, these will drain your connection.
Thanks to copey123 from WACCOE for originally instructing me on how to install this software – now I have another reason why I don’t need Sky Digital!
Lastly, I’ve mentioned on here before how I much prefer Firefox to Internet Explorer. I still do, but take a look at this, it appeared when browsing a website and apparently it’s a common annoyance. Pretty ironic huh?

I’ve been listening to a really great band lately – The Kaiser Chiefs. They have recently released an album entitled Employment, you may have heard one song of theirs on the radio or television already – “Oh My God”.
The band have only recently formed (summer 2003 in fact), but you could be forgiven if you thought they were far more experienced, after all they have already been asked to play at the Reading and Leeds Festivals this summer.
Their music is a blend of rock and indie, the best band to compare them to is Franz Ferdinand, another band who have received recent success.
The band have named themselves after one of the biggest football teams in South America. They are not fans of that team though; they actually support Leeds United (good taste as well as good musicians!). The Kaiser Chiefs are the team Leeds United legend Lucas Radabe started his career.
If you don’t like football or Leeds United, don’t be discouraged by this, they don’t sing about football (although they are planning on releasing a song for Leeds United!), in fact apart from the bands name there are no other connections to the sport.
I highly recommend this album, go and buy it … now!

Leeds played awful last night against Nottingham Forest, luckily they didn’t lose, the game finished 0-0 but listening to it over the radio was like listening to a game of chess.
Why is it that when Leeds get so close to success – this time promotion – they throw it all away by playing crap? Forest a poor side and will almost certainly get relegated, if Leeds had played at their best they could have annihilated them. Makes you think the players are just damn lazy.
An ex-Leeds player who is looking very lazy and a little bit fat is Harry Kewell. Kewell used to be fabulous in his golden years at Leeds but since moving to Liverpool he has become shit. All this time on the bench is taking its toll on his health and he looks overweight by footballing standards.

The fans used to sing “Harry, Harry Kewell” in the style of “Daddy, Daddy Cool” to him. I can think of a better chant in the same style. “Who ate all the pies? Who ate all the pies? Harry, Harry Kewell! Harry, Harry Kewell!” The waste of space is now fatter than fellow Australian lard arse Mark Viduka.

Anyway, moving on from football, I went to the cinema last night with all intentions of seeing Hitch. When I got to the cinema I was persuaded by a friend to see another bad film Boogeyman.
The film is about a man who during childhood saw his Dad killed by The Boogeyman. Nobody believed him and assumed his Dad just left. In adulthood he returns to face the Boogeyman and unsurprisingly he does exist. The film is crap. Storyline is poor. The scare tactics are poor, anybody can make audiences jump unexpectedly. AVOID!!!
The only good thing about going to the cinema was that I saw a trailer for The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I have never read the books or seen the TV series, but the film looks absolutely brilliant! I can’t wait to see it.
Lastly, I am seriously thinking of ending my Sky+ subscription. I currently pay a massive £41 a month for a large package. After much thought I realised that 90% of the programs I do watch are Free To Air/View (BBC1, BBC2, BBC Three, ITV1, etc).
If I want solely Free To Air & View channels I still need to pay Sky £10 a month for the privilege of using my own Sky+ box – something which is my own property!
What do Sky actually provide for this £10 a month? Software Updates? Customers with standard digiboxes get these for free anyway and the last update in July was full of bugs which caused havoc for thousands of customers!
Basically, Sky are holding me to ransom. Either I pay them £10 a month or they stop me using a piece of equipment I paid for and own. Sky are in the right though, I know I agreed to the terms and conditions when I signed up, I do think that it is unfair though.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO WATCH?
"My own equipment without having to pay for the privilege!"
Imagine if a car garage did that. You’d buy a car, but need to keep paying them £10 a month or it would just not drive. The £10 would not include petrol, servicing or a guarantee; it would just keep it running.
It’s a fucking rip off! I’m seriously thinking of buying a Freeview Personal Video Recorder which will offer the features Sky+ does. One off payment and no subscription meaning I don’t have to pay to use my own property!
Lastly, you may have noticed some parts of this blog entry are in bold. This is to seperate where a start of a new topic is mentioned. For example, some visitors don't like football, all you need to do now is scan for the first non-footballing selection of text and read on.

Last night I watched Hero on DVD – originally known as Ying xiong. Hero is a martial arts film, originally released in China and dubbed and subtitled for Westerners.
I enjoyed it a lot, the fight scenes were really impressive as are the locations and use of colours, music and sound – beautifully produced.
The storyline is highly original as well. It shows different characters versions of events in the lead up to the films climax. Something I have not seen done before.

Today I have been teaching myself Visual Basic.NET 2003. I’ve installed Visual Studio and am using ‘Beginning VB.NET 2003’ to learn the language.
So far so good, I got through Chapter One with no problems (I do have some Visual Basic 6 experience) and have made a very basic program.
I am planning on adding a section to this website where I will comment on my progress and upload the (simple) programs I create.

I’m off to the cinema this evening with a friend, planning on going to see Will Smith’s new film Hitch (don’t laugh, there’s nothing else on!). Afterwards I’ll probably go out for dinner. Trouble is at that time, Leeds United will be playing Nottingham Forest. I’ll have my mobile phone out for most of the meal trying to find out the latest score – I’m going to look like one of those Chavs who is always texting on their (stolen) mobile phone!
Lastly, I hope you’re all voting for Leeds United on the ‘Win a player’ Coca Cola Competition. Leeds United are now top of the leader board by over 1000 votes. Remember, you can vote every day so just because you’ve voted earlier in the week it doesn’t mean you can’t vote again.

Good luck to Leeds United, you can beat Forest!

Sorry about the lack of updates over the weekend, I’ll try and cover everything now…
It was my birthday on Saturday so firstly went out to the local pub for a drink before going out to Bristol for another drink and to the cinema to see Constatine. I must say, I really did not enjoy this film. It has been having rave reviews, but the film didn’t do it for me.
I didn’t like the storyline for one thing, The Bible meets The Exorcist meets The Matrix was bizarre. My friends liked it, as do the film critics so it must have just been me.

Flares at football grounds are just dangerous...
Earlier on that day Leeds United played Gillingham. I always had a bad feeling about this game. Leeds are a strange team, especially this season. They play superb and generally get good results against the stronger sides in the league, although when they play the teams near the bottom of the table, they always mess up. Gillingham are in serious danger of being relegated, although were very unlucky to only get a draw against Leeds – they deserved to win.

Gillingham - a team to fear... only if you're Leeds United
I bloody hope Leeds sort this out fast as they have Nottingham Forest this Wednesday – another team struggling down there.
This evening I watched Man on Fire on DVD. I haven’t seen it before, don’t know why I didn’t see it at the cinema last year. I was really impressed with it. It’s a hard hitting, action/thriller which sees Denzil Washington play a bodyguard who must avenge the killers of a little girl he was hired to protect.
The film is a real revenge story, in some ways similar to Kill Bill. It is very violent, but for what the criminals did, you never feel that Washington was actually doing much wrong – or is that just me being sick and twisted!?
Anyway, top film and one I seriously recommend you buy or rent on DVD!

Moving onto music now, my friend has had to remove the link to the Amarillo song by Peter Kay – his server simply couldn’t cope with the bandwidth. Good news though! You can now buy the single (which includes the video) from all good record shops. Get it now and make it No.1 this Sunday. I bought my copy today and have been listening to it loads, it’s pretty addictive! :o)

Lastly, visitors to Sparkster.net... I was checking up on how many of you have been visiting my website lately and have noticed a massive rise in the number of visits to my site, a lot of being direct hits as opposed to referrals from other websites.
Would anybody be able to tell me how you learnt about Sparkster.net? This sudden increase in traffic activity makes me wonder if Sparkster.net has been featured in anymore publications – it’s already been in The Yorkshire Post. Just contact me and let me know – thanks.

Well it was Red Nose Day today and Comic Relief has been quite good tonight, Little Britain and Vicar of Dibley were all entertaining. The highlight of the evening had to be Peter Kay’s Is this the way to Amarillo?
Very funny and well done, this can be downloaded from the Thumbache website here (LINK REMOVED).

Before you download it though, why not donate some money to Comic Relief here? If you don’t and you enjoy the entertainment created for Red Nose Day it’s effectively stealing – although I’m sure the organisers of the campaign won’t necessarily agree with those sentiments!

Last weekend I watched The Adam & Joe Best of DVD. I’ve seen the DVD and sketches so many times before, but they never get boring, they’re just so funny.
For those not in the know Adam & Joe is a sketch show created on a low budget by Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish.

Their humour is crude at times, but it is also very clever and well thought out. If you haven’t seen it before I highly recommend getting hold of the DVD. It’s just a shame it’s one of those “Best Of” DVDs. This covers four excellent series; it would have been nice to have all the series available.
While your DVD to arrive (you have ordered it haven’t you?), check out these hilarious sound clips. The first was taken from their third series, it is a song about my favourite actor Robert DeNiro.
Since The Adam & Joe Show ended the duo worked together but also on their own projects. Last year, Adam starred in The Stupid Version on BBC3, he performed this EXCELLENT parody of The Streets song Dry You’re Eyes Mate. It’s brilliant!
You may also want to check out this unofficial Adam & Joe website.

Football manager Kevin Keegan isn’t very good at handling pressure is he? How many major roles has he had in recent years? Three. How many has he quit now? Three. Last night the heat got too hot at Man City and he quit.
I don’t know why he always seems to pack his bags and leave. Maybe it’s because he wants to avoid an inevitable sacking (I wish all the ex-Leeds managers had quit, they wouldn’t have had a big fat pay off).
Something’s not right, he seems like a fighter on TV interviews prior to matches (remember his infamous “LOVE IT!” rant?), but off camera he appears to be a small man.
Still I like Keegan. He’s a good and honest. I wouldn’t have him as Leeds manager though. However I won’t be surprised if certain tabloids “make up” stories linking him with Leeds…
"EXCLUSIVE: Leeds United chairman Ken Bates has been having secret talks with ex-Man City manager Kevin Keegan a source close to the Yorkshire Club claims. The source who prefers to remain unnamed claims Keegan is No.1 on Bates manager list as he has a great history of promoting teams back to The Premiership and keeping them there"
and another
"INSIDE INFO: Managerless Man City are set to make a surprise swoop for Leeds United manager Kevin Blackwell. Blackwell has done wonders for the Coca-Cola Championship side and the Man City board believe he is the man to take City forward"

Well the football didn’t fail to impress this evening – I watched the Chelsea-Barcelona game on ITV1 and must say it was one of the best Champions League games I have seen in a long time.
Barcelona started terrible, like a pub team (and I am NOT exaggerating!), Chelsea punished them for this and were winning 3-0 within 20 minutes (4-2 on aggregate). Barcelona were then awarded a penalty and scored another goal shortly after making the aggregate score 4-4, good enough to send them through.
The second half was another great game of football, with chances for both sides, Chelsea edged it at the end scoring late on to win the Round 5-4 on aggregate.
I’m not a big Chelsea fan at all but fair play to them, they were playing one of the best teams in Europe and got through, unlike Manchester United…
The scum were losing 1-0 on aggregate to AC Milan when they went to Italy. They lost 1-0 again, losing 2-0 on aggregate. This sent them crashing out the Champions League and disappointed Alex Fergiescum, the Man Utd players and the fans. The football fans in Cornwall will be sad tonight. I'm sure all over football fans were loving it :o)

It simply proves that Man Utd are NOT what they used to be. Step over Fergie, your not the top dog anymore.
On the topic of football, you may have noticed the new Coca-Cola promotion where they will buy your club any player for £250k and give you £10k too.
You can enter online, even if you’re not interested, please, please enter registering LEEDS UNITED as your desired team. There’s a chance you’ll win £10k and you may be helping The Mighty Whites out too.
Go to http://www.coca-colafootball.co.uk/. Click the “Win a Player for your Club” icon, click “Enter the Draw”, enter your details and select LEEDS UNITED, that’s LEEDS UNITED.
£250k isn’t a great amount, even for a Championship side, but it’s better than nothing, maybe it can be used to pay off Michael Ricketts and they other waste of space leaches at the club.

A big evening of football this evening in The Champion League. Chelsea host Barcelona while Man Utd travel to AC Milan. Both the English teams are trailing on aggregate and (hopefully) look to crash out – Hahahaha.
Typically both games are on TV, although very annoyingly both at exactly the same time. I know with all the teams playing league matches at the weekends, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the only realistic days to play, but it is still annoying I can’t watch both, still I’ll record them on Sky+ and watch later if they lose.
C’mon Barca & Milan!
Lastly, my forums are up and running and doing well for the first day, feel free to register and post your thoughts on whatever you like, including tonight’s football games.

Sorry about the lack of updates lately. No excuses, I’ll just get on with blogging…
Leeds have just finished playing Millwall away. The game finished 1-1. A few months ago I would have been more than happy with this result, but based upon recent form and the way Leeds played in the second half, I am slightly disappointed Leeds didn’t win. Still, they’re now in 9th place and only 3 points off the play offs – C’mon!
The new Formula 1 season kicked off this weekend, the Australia Grand Prix being the first of the season. Giancarlo Fisichella won the Grand Prix, British driver David Coulthard came fourth and Jenston Button eleventh. Best of all though Michael SCUMacher, the cheat and F1’s answer to Manchester United had to retire after he spinned his car off the track! Hahahahaha!

On Friday I went to the cinema to see Robert DeNiro’s latest film Hide and Seek. This is a horror/thriller about a psychologist (DeNiro) who moves away from the city with his daughter after his wife kills herself. His daughter is disturbed by her mummies death and makes up a supposed imaginary friend called Charlie. Charlie causes havoc though and when people start to die you wonder who Charlie really is…

Are you talking to me? Are you talking... to ME?
As I have mentioned on this site before, I am a big fan of Robert DeNiro, he is my best actor of all time. Hide and Seek wasn’t his finest hour but that’s comparing him to Goodfellas, Taxi, Raging Bull, etc.
Finally next Friday it’s Comic Relief or Red Nose Day (whatever they call it nowadays). Like most years a charity record is released to make money for the cause. Boy band McFly have recorded All About You.
I’m not a fan of McFly or the single although I heard a brilliant parody of the song on the radio. It’s called He Doesn’t Use Shampoo. Check it out, it’s great, if you’re feeling generous you may want to buy a copy of the McFly single too. The CD can be used as a coaster, mirror, Frisbee or if you want to piss someone off can be played in a HiFi (just make sure you’re wearing a pair of ear plugs!)

It’s a sad day in the world of Leeds United Football Club. One of the greatest players ever to wear the white shirt has left Elland Road today. Michael Duberry today left Leeds and signed for Stoke City. I am bitterly disappointed, Duberry one of the best central defenders in Europe and the future of the club. I simply cannot see how Leeds can go on without him.
In case you were thinking I had completely lost it, I was being sarcastic. Duberry has gone to Stoke and I couldn’t be happier. The man is a joke, a terrible defender, terrible player in fact. I don’t think anybody associated with Leeds United Football Club will be sad to see Duberry leave.
The only annoying thing about the transfer is that I bet Stoke have got a good deal. If I were arranging the transfer, I would insist Duberry plays both league games against Leeds next season – that would guarantee a win for The Whites. I would also ask Stoke to keep the other Leeds United donkey Michael Ricketts who is also on loan.
What are Stoke thinking taking all the Leeds rubbish? I dunno, but celebrity fan Nick Hancock must be fuming.

Duberry tries to kick the ball... and misses
Moving on from football, I learnt some great ends the other day. Family Guy, the best comedy animation series ever created is back for a fourth series. No UK air date has been confirmed yet but the first episode is due to air in the US on 1st May 2005.

Living in the UK you would have thought this would be a problem, however with the magic of the Internet there are ways of seeing the US episodes...
It’s easy; all you need to do is book a flight over the net to America stay in a hotel with cable and watch it. What did you think I meant by using the Internet?

I had a big surprise when I looked at my website stats today; I had thousands and thousands of visitors in one day. Now I normally get around 50-100, but the amount I got today was what I would normally get in a month!
Curious, I took a look at the referrals; the vast majority had come from The Official Leeds United website who had published my positive comments on the team’s recent success and my now infamous Blackwell “Managing for Dummies” parody.
This is the recent message which brought Sparkster.net all the fame while praising the best football team in the land at the same time - Marching on Together,
This is a message for Kevin Blackwell and the Leeds United squad...
Thank you Blackie for all your efforts you have put into Leeds United Football Club.
Since you took over as gaffer, the club has been totally transformed for the better.
I'm sure we will continue to improve and will be playing Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal in The Premiership in the next few years - hopefully Real Madrid and Milan in a few years after that, I won't get too carried away though!
I live in Bath so find it a little harder to get to Elland Road than most Leeds fans. I do try to make the 400 mile round trip whenever I can though.
I'm hoping to go to the Ipswich and Rotherham game this season and will be buying a Forever Leeds Membership for 2005/6.
Anyway, in honour of Blackwell and Leeds United I have created this parody book cover - http://www.sparkster.net/imagedumps/fordummies.htm
Hope you like it!
If Blackwell is ever stuck for cash, maybe he could write the book to go with the cover!

Still on the topic of football, did anybody see Delia Smith’s drunken outburst last night live on Sky Sports? The celebrity chef who also owns Norwich Football Club was more than a little pissed off (and pissed!) about her team going from 2-0 up to 2-2 against Man City by half time. She took the mic and started shouting and rambling at the fans in a bid to rally them round. They lost 3-2. Here’s the clip of her drunken outburst.
How the media laughed at her, but in some ways I admire the lady for her love of the football club. It takes a lot of guts (and probably a lot of sherry) to get up and do what she did, but it was with all good intentions. Having witnessed my own team struggling for survival I know what it is like. Well done Delia! Good luck to Nrowich.
Sorry about the absence of blogs for the last few days, I had a few things on but now normal service can be resumed :o)
I case you were wondering, all of February’s blogs are in the archive.
