I start a brand new network and computer support job tomorrow. I am looking forward to it as it is far more technical than my old job of two and a half years. A great opportunity for me to get into the I.T. industry, especially as it is a major interest of mine and I have qualifications in the area (HNC & Advanced GNVQ).

This job involves an earlier start of 8am, even though I only like a short while away from work I’m going to need to get up at 6.30am. This is early for me, I didn’t even know there was a 6.30AM! Still, I am sure I will get used to it and I do finish at 4pm which is earlier than before.

Will blog a bit more about it later when I have been there a while.

I went to town last night, firstly was dragged to see the egg chasing (rugby) before going to Nandos and then to the cinema to see Lucky Number Slevin.

Was very impressed with the film starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Sir Ben Kingsley (one of my best actors), Lucky Liu amongst many others.

The film is all about a case of mistaken identity where a man ends up in the wrong lace at the wrong time. This leads to him owing large sums of money to violent gangland leaders and performing tasks for them simply to stay alive.

There many, many twists throughout the whole film, some of which will really surprise you. I highly recommend this movie, it is the best I have seen since Collateral (back in September 2004). It has a great storyline, is very entertaining, funny and highly original.

Great game of football this evening between Chelsea and Barcelona and a fabulous result for Barca, 2-1 victory away from home.

The game was fiery from start to finish. Chelsea’s Asier del Horno was sent off for a debatable foul on Lionel Messi, bringing the Londoners down to ten men.

Even with the disadvantage, Chelsea still managed to score first in the second half, Thiago Motta scoring an own goal after pressure from John Terry. Barca weren’t behind for long, Ronaldinho’s excellent free kick causing Terry problems who headed the goal into his own net! Barca then turned on the firepower and scored a much deserved winner from Samuel Eto'o.

Barca are now in the driving seat, Chelsea have to score 2 goals at the Nou Camp in a fortnight and not conceded to go through. The thing with Barca is that they always look like scoring, they have so much quality. Hopefully this will be enough to put my second team through to the quarter finals.

I still refuse to write Chelsea off though, hopefully the Barca players will have the same attitude and not get too complacent. Chelsea have so much quality and can be very dangerous.

I watched the Arsenal – Real Madrid match on the telly this evening. Fabulous game of football, was so pleased for Arsene Wenger's side to win as I have always had a soft spot for them (apart from when the play Leeds!). Hopefully they can take advantage of their aggregate lead and make it through to the quarter finals.

Unfortunately Liverpool, the other English team playing in Europe tonight failed to be as successful as their southern counterparts, losing 1-0 away to the Portuguese side Benfica – yes the team that knocked out ManU back in December (Hahaha). There’s always the second leg of this round, hopefully the scousers will be able to turn things around at Anfield.

Chelsea play Barcelona tomorrow in arguably the biggest game of the round. Now I’m a Barcelona fan, I watch their La Liga games whenever I get chance on Sky, you could call them my 2nd team (after Leeds United of course). They are a joy to watch and really I hope they win the Champions League. I’ll be donning my Barca shirt and hoping they beat Chelsea tomorrow, wiping that grin of the arrogant face of José Mourinho. C’mon Barca!

Was listening to Radio 1 this morning at work, Andi Peters was on the Chris Moyles Show. Andi Peters used to present CBBC in The Broom Cupboard and is surly remembered fondly by anybody who grew up in the 1980s.

During the show (which is currently available on the “Listen Again” service) he talked about cult classic TV shows like Around the World in 80 Days and Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, all favourites of mine when I was about seven. Until today I never knew Mr. Peters was only eighteen years old when the presented the after-school show along with Ed the Duck. Adults and even late teens seem so much older when your very young.

Today’s radio feature got me thinking of classic kids TV shows I used to watch and wondered if they were out on DVD. I already have the excellent Round the Twist (as regular visitors to this site will know) but have been desperate for the hilarious Maid Marian to get a release. Well, after a quick search on Play.com I can now reveal that the best children’s comedy ever, Maid Marian and Her Merry Men will be released on a double disc DVD on 20th March 2006.

The title has now been pre-ordered and I’ll eagerly await the delivery.

All together now...

Marian!
Why don't you carry on with what you're doing
Cause there's always trouble brewing
You've got to find a way to make a better day
Oh Marian!

Why don't you carry on with your merry men
And make heroes out of each of them
You've got to find a space to make a better place
Oh Marian, oh Marian

A great win for Leeds last night, they started the game in 4th place taking on 3rd place Watford. On the same night 2nd place Sheffield United faced league leaders Reading.

At half time things weren’t looking good, Leeds were trailing 1-0 and hopes of automatic promotion were looking doubtful. Then in the second half after a defensive error the Watford keeper ended up being sent off and a penalty awarded to Leeds. Robbie Blake equalised for Leeds to make the score 1-1.

The equaliser must have messed up the Watford players as shortly after the penalty Watford striker Darius Henderson was sent off taking his side down to 9 men. It was now up to Leeds to overpower depleted Watford and grab all 3 points. It took some time but Leeds eventually got the winner and comfortably won the game 2-1.

What a difference a couple of red cards makes! :o)

Leeds are now 9 points behind 2nd place Sheffield United with a game in hand. Sheffield United drew against Reading, shame they didn’t loose, they even saved a late penalty to keep a valuable point. Watch out Neil Warnock! We’re coming to get you!

A friend of mine sent me this funny clip of a little kid playing a maze game which scares the crap out of anyone who gets to the end of level 3.

What happens next?

The game has been doing the rounds on the net for sometime and I came across it last year. It scared me too! The clip is just priceless and far better than anything you would see on You’ve Been Framed.

If you want to scare a gullible friend, four year old sibling or an elderly relative with a heart condition then I recommend you provide them with a packet of nappies as this game is known to make the player produce shepherds pie in his or her underwear.

These must be warn before playing "The Maze"

NOTE: I cannot be held responsible if you or anyone dies after playing this game :o)

I have now finally moved into my new flat, now I know how what’s-his-name must have felt when he finished the Mona Lisa… knackered!

I was moving my things all day Friday, I never realised I had so much stuff until I had to shift it! The room is now setup with all my stuff and is looking pretty cool. I’ve got Sky+ & broadband internet installed too, both very essential for me.

I’ve got today off work to make some finishing touches to the place and sort out some other things which always come with moving homes – changing details with bank, etc. Think I need the day off to recover! Still a little tired, those people who say it is one of the most stressful things you can do are spot on.

Now I’m fully moved in expect normal, regular blogging to resume :o)

Went to PC World to buy a Belkin Wireless Bridge today. The new house I am moving into provides wireless internet but I need to connect my Xbox 360 & PC using an Ethernet cable, this bridge will allow me to do so.

Got home, set it up, following the instructions, surprise surprise it didn’t work! I noticed that there was a free phone helpline, instead of spending ages trying to solve the problem I thought I would give them a call (after all, it was free!).

After a long automated telephone system I was transferred to an Indian Call Centre. After spending 10 minutes+ giving them all kinds of details (my name, phone number, childhood hero, foot size etc) I was able to explain my problem. I needn’t have bothered!

The person on the other end of the phone was clearly reading from set text and knew nothing about computers, let alone networking. After being told clearly I had a Wireless Access Point and Wireless Bridge I kept being asked what new Wireless Network Card I had and that I should install drivers for it!

I was getting frustrated, very frustrated. By the time I was told to hard reset my ADSL Router I decided to end the phone call. I was getting nowhere and had I followed the instructions given to me my PC setup would be in a bad state.

Within 5 minutes of ending the call I had solved the problem myself. Very pleased with myself and my new network. :o)

Went to the pub this afternoon to watch the egg chasing, according to a rugby following friend of mine it is the start of The Six Nations, an important competition on the egg chasing calendar.

England were playing Wales and comfortably won, can’t remember the score (not too bothered to be honest!). I was more interested in checking the latest football scores on my mobile phone, logging in and out of Orange GPRS every few minutes to check how Leeds were doing against QPR.

My friend was not too impressed, wanting me to take an interest in the egg chasing and not the football scores he stole my phone. Probably did me a favour in the end as connecting to GPRS is not cheap, especially on pay as you go.

Anyway, Leeds won 2-0 in the end, another 3 points – all good! Here’s a mix for the game (I recorded the commentary while I was out!).
