Oh crapsticks
The PS3, or rather GTA4, has decided to stop working. Having copied my save files to a memory stick, I am now in the process of re-installing the whole game. I pray to God this fixes it. If not, I’ll be on the phone to Sony in the morning...
UPDATE: It sounds like a lot of people are suffering from the same problem, in that the game fails to load. The game manufacturers, Rockstar, know about this and are looking into a fix. *sigh*
UPDATE #2: Fixed it. Well kind of. The freezing at startup is a known issue. The solution - sign out of PSN... Get this bug sorted, Rockstar! :o(
